Over the past few days ive had around a dozen calls from various numbers inside and outwith the UK.
They have all said some variation of "Im returning your missed call" or "Hi i got a missed call from you".
Its difficult to say "sory but i never called you" when clearly they have received a call from my number.
I HAVE NOT made any outgoing calls.
Surely the scammers havent evolved to spoofing my number? Ive had the same number for years and this has only started to happen over the last few days.
Any help/advise on this is greatly appreciated.

Hi @ZX_Spectrum,
Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂
This does sound like you've been a victim of call spoofing.
In most cases, the spoofer will move onto using a different number quite quickly.
You can find out more in Call spoofing - The EE Community.
Hope this helps.

Hi @natzkj
Welcome to the community.
If this is a case of call spoofing, the person calling you may be confused thinking that it was you that called them initially.
Check out this call spoofing article that may explain a possible cause. Hopefully this doesn't continue for you for too long.

My sister had this recently, and she was convinced that they were actually trying to scam her - and she got quite angry about it. I had to tell her that the other people were of the same opinion about her and that they were legit - and explain call spoofing.
No harm done - as Christopher says - they will find a new number soon - just calmly advise that your number was spoofed and apologise for any inconvenience (or ignore them) and it'll all blow over.
