Something rather strange has happened. Over the last 24 hours my wife has been receiving several (half a dozen so far) messages and phone calls from people saying they missed her call. She hasn't called them.
I contacted EE customer services to ask if they could check the phone records (as they withhold them by default and want to charge me to access my own data) to see if they have a record of a call being made and if so from which part of the country.
The person I spoke to said they don't have access to my call history (I guess EE outsource their customer service to a third party) but said they would check... after a few minutes they said my phone and account was secure and to block the callers who got back to her.
I know when I'm being fobbed off. That's not a proper response to my query. Anyway, she's just had yet another person call back to say they missed her call and I'm quite annoyed now.
Is it possible that someone has cloned her number? Are there any options available to me to get EE to pull their finger out and treat this seriously? I know I can do a subject access request to obtain my data but I really want someone at EE (not their outsourced agents) to investigate this and tell me what's going on.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Hi @jjbinx007
Welcome to the community.
Our Mobile Care team can only access information of unbilled chargeable calls, unless you have itemised billing activated on your account already. Calls that are made within allowances wouldn't show for them.
It sounds from your description that this could be an instance of call spoofing. This community article explains what call spoofing is.
