I have received over 40 scam calls in 4 weeks and 2 already today!  Every single one starts with…is that Laura smith! All of them are for vehicle emissions. They used to say it’s about my Range Rover VRN EK64 …

i am sick and tired of this and the last person told me that they get our numbers off a database.

why are EE allowing our numbers for everyone to get hold off.

Hi @Julie2541

Welcome to the community.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with receiving a lot of these calls. There is some helpful information on our Online Security: How to Block Unwanted Calls and Texts page. Hopefully, the steps on there help reduce these calls.

Out of interest, what do you expect a telecoms operator to do, to stop scammers trading the numbers of people who answer their calls?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your response, have no fear I always block these calls afterwards. But to receive so many is just becoming very nauseating and unfortunately I have to answer these calls as I never know if they are the hospital or someone else.

Sometimes, When they say is that Laura I reply with oh is that and say a name depending on whether the person is male or female. They say no then I say oh that’s good because I’m not Laura either and hang up and then block the call!

Unfortunately, scammers obtain phone numbers through various methods, including purchasing data from third-party providers, social media, website searches etc so we’ll never win.

@Julie2541  Why are you putting your number on social media?    Your number isn’t visible unless you allow it or make it available.

Register your number with the TPS service HERE

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Cheerios what I wrote is from Google lol. My number is totally private and I do not put it or share it. The only people that know it are those I choose to give it to. Like my family, friends and hospital.

Sorry Chris my phone put your name as Cheerios 😂😂😂
