Today I received a call on purportedly 020 4538 9426 from purportedly John purportedly from EE. He asked how I was today and if I wanted a 30 percent discount. The man was speaking with a South Asian accent in what sounded like a call centre.
He asked me to tell him how much I was paying each month so that I could identify myself. I declined and as he was working for EE asked him to tell me how much I was paying. He said that he needed to know to take me through security.
I declined again and he rang off.
I subsequently called 150 and reported this incident to EE. The guy I spoke to confirmed that EE had not contacted me today and that the call was a scam.
I am publishing this to the community so that other are aware of this scam.

A women named "Elsa" who had an Indian accent call me yesterday and today for the same thing offering me a 30% discount on my phone bill. I asked her to call me back but I blocked both numbers.
Got suspicious (and my phone said the no. was suspected spam). I finally did some searching on the internet and came across this thread.
Now I know it was a scam, thanks.

Got a call today for the same thing from 01204 954782 - Bolton apparently. Said I could get 30% discount as I was one of 500 loyal customers. He then asked me to confirm my email address as part of security, which I did not do. He said he knew all my details and I just needed to confirm for security purposes, So I asked him to then confirm what my email address ended in as EE would know it….i said tell me if it’s @Gmail @sky @@google.co.uk etc etc and he said gmail.
this was incorrect so he got called a scammer and I hung up!
this scam seems to be going around quite a bit now!

Hi @Krisbhoy Thanks for getting in touch with us and telling us about your experience.
I've had a look at our partner list but I can't see that number, so there's a good chance that it was a phishing call
It would be a big help if you could send those details in to our phishing department so they can get this investigated.
Their email address is phishing@ee.co.uk

Hello EE,
I had similar call about discount from a private mobile number. It seemed also, it was a genuine EE number (based on some resources) but obviously billing scam. He had Indian accent as well. He even had many people talking in a background like a real call centre or a big gang working together there lol.
He asked how much I am paying now and they are offering discounts as they are losing customers. Yeah.
I've already reported it in different ways.
Please note that person was using genuine EE text service to send text message and email address. I have no idea, how it is possible but be aware.
People- don't do anything with email with pin and password change. Just report it.
