I have received a phone call, supposedly from EE, stating that they are swapping from 4G to 5G on Friday and that I habanero being sent a new SIM and the old one will not work after Friday. Impossible to speak to anybody on EE app so wondered if anybody else has heard of this

There's a couple of things I can see they could do if they can access your account.
Potentially order new devices, which get intercepted at the delivery stage but you pay for them.
They may be able to order new sim cards with your number on them.  Put them into a new device and then use it reset password of other accounts, as the reset codes then go to them.  There's was a big thing a year or two ago about scammers being able to con their way to a new sim card on your account over the phone to the operator, but (I believe) operators have put extra checks in place.
Also it's worth adding a sim code to the sim in your phone.  Otherwise if someone steals your phone and puts the sim in their phone, any password resets that send codes could be accessed by whoever has the sim. A sim code prompts for the code when it detects a new device.

Hi @anicas

Welcome to the community.

I'm sorry to hear that you've received one of these calls. I'd recommend changing your email password, just to be safe.

Could you also report the call here on our Report a scam call help page please? Our partner Hiya will then look into it.

Thank you.

This is definitely a scam. I had the same thing happen with me yesterday. I was contacted by the following numbers

01795 877274

029 22649747

then via was sap claiming to be 02 support 07355457718.

they had accessed my ee account and changed my email address. They also ordered an  i-phone pro 16 using my bank details.

its been reported to ee fraud/scam team who have resolved this. I’ve also had to inform my bank etc. So stressful!
