Hi.. today I received a call from a very similar number to mine just a couple end digits off.. the guy said he was returning a call I just made to him (which I hadn't) and then I told him I had not called him and he said OK no worries bye.
Thinking this was an anomaly of some sort I went on with my day.. then when I was away from my phone around an hour later another different number very similar to mine I have a missed call from.. no message left.
I am not sure what the scam could be here..is someone else somehow using my number to call people?

Hi Guy's, I feel your pain, I had this going one for about 3 months last year. After taking to EE, I realised as all of you do from their standard copy & pasted replies that neither EE or Ofcom for that matter, are going to do anything to stop this happening, I assume because of cost.
I am disgusted at EE's remarks telling people to change their numbers and report each individual number when they know they are numbers of other EE customers.
Guy's Take control yourself.
Do not answer calls from numbers not in you contacts.
If the caller did not leave a message block that number.
Do this each time they call and change the single digit in the number.
I did this and after a couple of weeks and blocking about 7 numbers, I have not had any further spoof number calls in 2022.
EE Support team.
This is not a customer support problem. Issues that affect thousands of customers at the is an EE network technical issue. So this issue is for EE to work on an resolve not their customers. Look how many of your customers this affects in this one thread alone, and then times that figure by 1,000s who never bother to comment.
Why are you not advising customers to do a simple fix like this rather than change their number and all the hassle that would entail.
Hoped this helped some of you. EE obviously will not.
