Hi.. today I received a call from a very similar number to mine just a couple end digits off.. the guy said he was returning a call I just made to him (which I hadn't) and then I told him I had not called him and he said OK no worries bye.
Thinking this was an anomaly of some sort I went on with my day.. then when I was away from my phone around an hour later another different number very similar to mine I have a missed call from.. no message left.
I am not sure what the scam could be here..is someone else somehow using my number to call people?

This is happening to me too. I’ve had three today from different numbers which are almost identical to mine other than the last three digits. I answered one the other day and it was a man asking who I was claiming I’d called him. I said no you called me and asked who he was. He said I’d called him so I said it must have been a mix up, sorry, bye. It’s very annoying getting all these calls. I block the numbers each time but another one rings. What’s going on?!

Happened to me 3 times today so far, all similar number to mine apart from the last 3 digits.
2 were automated about National Insurance fraud and 1 just hung up.
Has anybody found a solution to this?

This is also happening to me. 3 calls yesterday - identical number to mine save for the last 3 digits change with every call. Another two calls today. If I answer, the call just ends.
Why aren't EE taking this seriously? The point EE is that all of us are receiving calls from numbers that mirror our own number, save for the last 3 digits. No reports of this happening on other networks. The responses from EE's so call "experts" are shamefully ignorant to this fact and the problem. If you block one number, you just get another call from a new number mirroring your own number with a different last 3 digits.
Come on EE - take ownership of this problem, look into it urgently and give your customers an informed response, not just generic garbage replies. Probably asking too much for a multi billion pound turnover company with cutting edge technology resources at their fingertips, but let's see ...

I have also been having two three four calls a day for the last week! each time blocking them.. like you say, we need an informed response, not just generic copy and paste responses.

Hi @Sknott86
The information around call scams can be found on the article that @Leanne_T has posted a couple of times: Call Spoofing.
There are a couple of other links on that article to other helpful pages about circulating scams and spam/phishing too.

I've just had the same, but mine was a very upset woman who believes I'm scamming her and that I've called her from some insurance company. Insisted that mine was the number that called her. I blocked her number after she messaged me saying she's reporting me. I don't know who to, but it's scary stuff.

Hi, yeah its very strange, been getting the same thing with only the last 2 digits that are different to mine. Had about 30 different variations, I knew something wasn't right first time it happened because my number is really old, back from the start of the orange days.
