Posting here to understand if others have heard the same as I did on a call.
I called the account help call centre because I am having an issue with two different accounts. As an attempt at a resolution the call centre agent added my email address to one of the accounts - and then asked me for a password so that I could log into my account.
I didn't provide one, saying that it was insecure and I would set up myself. The agent replied: "We can all see your passwords. We need to so we can verify who you are." He then seemed to be able to set up a password himself.
It's possible he meant passcode/pin - but has anyone else heard this at all?

Hi @RDMetcalfe,
Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂
I believe the member of the team you spoke to would have been describing the verbal password on your account that is used to verify you when calling us, rather than your EE online password.

Ok - thanks James. It definitely sounded like he was asking me to add a password. I don't recall setting a verbal password previously.

No problem, @RDMetcalfe
If you hadn't previously set up a verification password, they were doing the right thing in adding one for you.
