Hi, it is my first experience with EE - just bought a new SIM card - at it is VERY frustrating. I want to keep my number from the old operator but in the EE form they say that both my PAC and STAC are not correct. I am copying from the message in the right format and EE keeps saying the format is wrong. I feel like an idiot. I can;t even call them or have a chat. I spent one hour doing this repetitive actions with STAC with no success. WHAT do. I do now?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Where are you trying to call from?
Download Skype and you should be able to call for free on +44 800 079 8586.
To further complicate things, your EE SIM needed to be activated in the UK first before using it and the Port cannot go through correctly until you are back in the UK so there are numerous issues here.
It is really best to try and talk to EE using Skype as I've linked above.

Why can't you call them or have a chat?
If you call customer services on 150 from your EE SIM they can take the code from you. If you don't want to use the text to get through to somebody, you can press option 2 to go through the traditional phone menu options.
Just as you have mentioned both a PAC and a STAC; a PAC code is used to retain/transfer your number from your previous provider while closing the old account, whereas a STAC code is used when you don't want to keep/transfer your number but only want to close the old account.

@irene333 If you want to keep your number from the old provider you only need the PAC so I’m not sure why you are trying to use a STAC as that’s to not keep the number and have EE in from the old provider to terminate that account and number and not move it over to EE.
Do not copy and paste the PAC when entering it.

I would instead text PORT to 150 from your new EE SIM and this will allow you to submit your PAC Code and enter the number you would like to transfer via text. Seems much more reliable than the Web form.
It will then give you a date for this to go through.
Be aware porting does not take place over the weekend, so it would be 1-2 working days if you submit it before 5:30pm.

Noooooo. I was panicking as I wanted to switch my sim ASAP, and PAC was not accepted on the EE form multiple times.
So I thought I will give it a go with STAC. After 40 min Orr so refreshing the page and submitting the form over and over again , it was submitted successfully but with STAC.
what shall I do now folks? 😞 I need to keep my old number

Call EE Customer Services ASAP to see if they can cancel the STAC on their end.
