eSIM v SIM card - What are the advantages?

Hi

What are the advantages of switching to an eSIM from a traditional SIM card? My iPhone can take both types of SIM but there does not seem to be a compelling reason to switch to the eSIM. Have I missed something?

With an eSIM it's more of a bother to change phones. You can't just transfer it but need to apply for a new QR code.
