Hi,
Last few years I've been using a phone number belonging to my former partner. I'd like to get my own plan and phone with EE and would like to transfer the number to my own name (the person who "owns" the number has no objections).
I understand the logistics of transferring (generating the code etc), but I'd like to know if we won't encounter any issues if we try to transfer the number from one user to another.
Your help will be appreciated!

Hello @efunia and welcome to the community
If your existing line is with another provider, then you will need to follow the PAC process - obtaining your code on your current phone and providing this to EE when you take out your new phone & plan.
If your existing line is with EE, then you will need to follow the "change of ownership" process (explained here under bullet point 3) which will require the consent of the existing account holder.

Hi Bristolian,
Thank you for your prompt reply! The number is in EE indeed so "change of ownership" seems to be the option.
Can you advise on the order of things though?
Do I need to start a new contract under my own name, and then do the change of ownership and transfer the number to my new contract?
Or do we first change the ownership and only then I should ask for a new contract with a new phone in EE with this number?
Or it doesn't really matter? 🙂

To add.
Is this current number on a pay monthly or PAYG?
If its on PM then you can't port a EE number to another EE account.
You will need to port it out to another network and then back again.
Once you port it out to another network that account closes. Then you can port it back into your new contract.
It being under a different name won't matter as your partner owns the account rather than the number. But to get the PAC code your partner will need to request it. If you then use it, it won't matter.

Actually to save time if it is under Pay Monthly. And your partner has no objections then just do a change of ownership.
You will then need to wait a month I believe before you can upgrade it. Unless you get your partner to upgrade first and then do a change of ownership. Might be less hassle than my previous post.

When you say "start a new contract in your name", I presume you mean "change my phone but keep my number"? In mobile terminology this is referred to as an upgrade. Starting a new contract would come with a new number, unless you want to get involve in a much more protracted process.
I agree with Brendon - you simply need to do a change of ownership. I am also unsure if there is any lockout or restriction on upgrading within x days of the process, so would not want to advise on this.

Hi
I have 2 phones under my name.
Mine and one for my husband.
My husband has done a transfer of ownership. ( he must know my password) with out my permission.
Is this legal or even allowed?.
How do I get the transfer back to my account.

@Treacle01 That’s called fraud. And unless you have called customer service yourself to request change of ownership as you are the account holder EE should not of done this.
The only exception to this would be that you have already gave EE permission to speak with your husband about your account.
You will have to call customer services and explain this to them.
