Transferring eSim to new Android device requires code via text

I'm setting up my new Google Pixel 9 XL phone with an eSim from EE. I had an eSim in my old Samsung 22 Ultra which I no longer have. I had to pay 50p for a new eSim (why?). Now it's asking me to activate the eSim in my phone. To do this I will receive a code via SMS... to the number associated with the eSim. Which isn't active, and thereby can't receive SMS!

Hi @maddswede

Welcome to the EE Community

The activation verification code is sent to the previous working SIM/eSIM.

If your old eSIM is no longer working, or you don't have it, you'll need to call Customer Care to activate your new/replacement SIM.
Or you can pop into any EE store with Photo ID where the team will install and activate the eSIM for you.
