Ok, so I recieved a new sim and got the pin. All good. Is that activation? Another thread states you have to " Top up with credit first time" and that what activates the sim. Why is this not mentioned on the pack sent with sim or on the website? I wanted to transfer my number before topping up incase I lost my money, as others have done all this and problems still persisted. I'm thinking of staying with giffgaff as this is a complete joke for 2022.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Hi @Guli.
Welcome to the community.
Where did you get the new SIM?
Do you have a signal on the SIM card?

What do you consider to be "activation"? PAYG SIMs will work from the get-go as long as you use them in the UK 1st.
Topping-up for the 1st time will either give you credit to make calls & texts or buy the pack the SIM is primed with. That pack will be activated when you 1st make a call or text or use data. It matters not when you port your no.

Hi there. It's a Payg sim and it's the one where I can buy a pack monthly. UK. So the sim had 50 mg already which I used. I recieved a text with sim which was fine and put it in, no problems. Using the transfer your number form, it states the number that came with sim must start with 07. Now, I'm thinking, its " Activated", I.e I can transfer my giffgaff number but it always states number should be uk and start with 07. Another thread claims they spoke to 150 and it's your first top up that activates it only then you won't see the 07 problem. It asks for the number of re sim and the one you're replacing it with. So as I said, dont want to top up like others and still have the same issue, as others have already after all the process. Thank you.

Thank you. Rang them and it's a common issue. The gentleman at yhe other side sorted it our over the phone, no issues. Just gave the PAC code and all was done. Thank you very much for all your help. Can hopefully get some decent internet speed in Birmingham!
