After 12 months of reliable service, my phone has started telling me that there is no SIM inserted. I tried taking the SIM out and giving it a clean, to no avail. Is the SIM faulty?

The only way to know for sure whether the phone or the SIM is faulty is to try the SIM in another phone and to try another SIM in your phone.
