Hi everyone,
I have recently switched over to EE from another network and am waiting for my new sim to come as I wanted to keep the same number.
However, prior to switching over to EE I did order another pay as you go sim for my secondary phone (This was before I had even decided to switch over to EE). That came first before my other sim. I put that pay as you go sim onto my secondary phone and it looks like the current contract is now under that new number which isnt what I wanted...
So now will my actual new sim with the same number not be valid anymore? i don't want to pay for two contracts. The idea was my pay as u go sim was to be used as and when I needed it not have a contract if that makes sense?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Thanks @Bubbl3tea, that's what I was thinking had been the case!
I would recommend giving our customer care team a call just so they can check 100% that it's the contract that's now up and running on this SIM.
Once we've confirmed that, they can also take your PAC and ensure we get your number brought over.
If you're only needing the other phone very occasionally, then pay as you go is definitely going to be the best way forwards here.
You can order a SIM for free direct from our site, pop into an EE store, or also pick these up in Supermarkets and Newsagents too.

Hi @Bubbl3tea
Did you pac over your number to EE.

Thanks

Hi, yes I did.
So I did assume that the contract would be under that number. Not sure why it's under the new mobile number?

Hi @Bubbl3tea
If this is the case then this is going to be problematic as you'll need to pac out your PAYG (your old number you want to keep) to another network, then once transferred PAC than number back to your contract SIM you should hopefully soon receive.
Thanks

Hey there @Bubbl3tea
Welcome to the EE Community 😊
I'd like to check over a few details so I can be absolutely sure where we're at with this.
Am I correct in thinking you're meant to have two SIMs here - one on pay as you go with its own number, and a second on contract where you'll also be bringing over a number from another network?
If that's all correct, have you received the contract SIM, or did the contract service automatically overtake what was on the pay as you go one?
Also is your number still active on your old network too, or has this now switched?

Hello! Yes that is all correct!
The new pay as you go sim has somehow activated and now under the new contract. My current number is still active on my old network as I haven't received the new sim for it yet.
I did end up talking to live chat and they said once I activate the sim for my current number onto my phone, the contract will automatically switch to my current number away from the new one(pay as you go sim)? So I will have to wait and see what happens... I just assumed my old number would be associated with the contract as I did the PAC code and everything, so I was just confused as to why the contract is now under this new number which wasn;t what I wanted at all

Thanks for confirming that @Bubbl3tea
Did you order the contract after you already had the pay as you go SIM?
We do have a process of moving from pay as you go to contract, but as far as I'm aware this isn't automatic, and we'd only move this across if you asked us to.
Was the number that came with the original pay as you go SIM important to you as well?
You can still port your number over from your previous network to the contract, but the number that came from the pay as you go SIM will be lost.

Yeah I ordered the pay as you go first. Then a few days later I decided to completely switch from my old network to EE.
No, I only got a second sim for my back up phone but I didn't need it to have a contract as I doubt I'd hardly use it. So ideally I need the contract on my current number now..
Ah okay, I don't mind that number being lost as it's not important but is there no way to have a second number with EE? I just want a back up number for my back up phone.

That's good @Bubbl3tea
If you're now up and running with the contract, then you should be able to get the number moved over from your previous network using a PAC.
What day did you first start using the contract SIM, and did you provide your PAC at the point of sale?
There's definitely nothing stopping you getting a second SIM though, both on pay as you go or as an additional SIM Only.
How regularly would you be looking to use this?

So my contract sim hasn't actually arrived yet. I already provided the PAC to one of the live assistant during a live chat.
I assumed my contract would start once I activated that sim and placed it on my phone. Little did I know my contract is now "running" but under the new pay as you go sim that I placed on my second phone. (Hope this all makes sense? Sorry for the confusion, I am getting confused myself!)
The second sim, I'd probably only use once/twice a month I'd say. It's more for taking out to busy places and I don't want to take my good phone out and just take out the cheaper phone.
