Porting failed and number in the limbo

Hi all,

After long time with Talkmobile, last week I decided to pass to EE. I requested the PAC and open an account with EE. Once i received the new SIM (with a temporary number), I found out that at the place where I work had not network at all, therefore after one hour or so of using it, I contacted the customer service (this was Saturday morning). The lady on the other side of the line was very kind and closed my account without charges and told me that she sent a message to another dept to stop the porting of my old number and assure me that i didn't need to do anything else, just put back the Talkmobile sim card. WHile i was talking to her i received a text message saying the porting of my number would be completed by the same afternoon, but she said to not worry that she stopped it.

 

Unfortunately this wasn't the case because this morning Talkmoble closed my account with them and after contacting them they confirmed that they did so because my number was ported to EE.

 

I spent over 1 hour back and forth between EE cs that couldn't see my old number on my now closed account and talkmobile cs that kept repeating that now my number was under EE. 

 

Finally after the 3rd call and the 3rd person in talkmobile they advised me that the porting was initiated this morning and this might be the reason ee cannot see it yet. I called for the 3rd time EE and they passed me to 3 different operators when finally a lady took charge and apparently send an email to her porting department to have the porting reversed to talkmobile. When this will happen is not known, but will be in 3 days at the earliest and she will send me an email because, obviously, I have no number anymore...

So long story short nobody knows where my number is and I don't have an account either with Talkmobile or EE.

 

Is this even possible? I am seriously thinking of making a formal complain against EE because this situation feels unreal.

 

Did this happen to anyone else?

The usual mitigation for poor indoor coverage is to use WiFi-calling, this allows full use of your phone for calls & texts with no regard for network service.

It's always a good idea to test service & performance of a new network in the locations you frequent - contrary to some popular opinion, the service offered by the 4 MNOs can vary significantly.

Ordinarily, once you have provided a new network with a PAC, you become their customer and are no longer supplied by your old provider. You're doing the right thing in pursuing your specific issues with CS.

You're free to raise a complaint if you like, but the process is not intended to resolve live service issues for which time can be of the essence.

Hence test the network in the places you want it by taking out a PAYG SIM with them before you port to them on a contract.
