Porting date

I have just moved over to EE today and have asked for my old number to come across. 
I have been sent a date by text to say it will be done by 07/04 which is a week away! Is this really going to take that long? How will I know when my old number has transferred? Thanks

It will port within 1 working day from when you activate your EE SIM on the EE network.

Just gives a leeway as they don't know when you will insert your SIM.
