Old number ported across, but iPhone has retained new sim number

As per the title, I’ve had my old number ported across from BT and I’ve checked it is actually being used by my phone (when I text someone) but ‘My number’ in settings still lists the new SIM card number. I’ve tried to change it and save it, but it always resets. Can this cause any problems?

Thanks

Hi. Did this ever get solved?  I’ve just moved to EE from Three (on an iPhone 12) and have the same issue. Tried rebooting, iMessage and FaceTime switched off without success.

it is an issue as I can’t read (or send) my messages from my iPad as it doesn’t recognise my number. It associates the EE SIM number with iMessage, even after doing the “fixes” in this thread.
Given it’s an old problem, it’s not a very impressive start by EE that they haven’t solved it

Hi James

I’m afraid not. I followed all advice in this thread.  Facetime and iMessage have remained off ever since I first asked for advice and the phone has been rebooted and updated several times. In fact, it has regressed in that I can’t even save the changes now

🤷‍♂️

Mine was sorted when I switched from a physical SIM to an eSIM. Now the correct number is showing everywhere.

Thanks Marcoee.  I’ll be chasing this up with EE in the store that set my phone up. I’ll respond here if I have any success or anything useful to share.

Its all pretty shoddy of them though tbh

Hi again Marcoee. I’ve sorted it!  Steps I took:

1. Switch off iMessage and FaceTime (not sure if necessary) on all devices

2. Settings->General->Transfer or Reset device ->Reset->Reset Network Settings

3. Switch phone off and on again (at which point the correct (old, ported) number should finally be showing under Settings…Mobile Service…my number)

4. Switch iMessages and FaceTime back on.  The correct phone number should now be listed.

No idea which of the above steps are necessary, but it worked for me. Good luck 🤞
