Number change

I have a trusty Galaxy S9 which originally was on the BT Mobile network. Last week I initiated a transfer to the EE network, in the course of which I was sent a new EE SIM with a new temporary [EE] number. After a bit of a struggle I did manage to 'port' the phone's effective number to the original BT number: ie:
1. Leave the phone switched on overnight
2. Power-off and restart in the moning
3. Leane for another 24 hours
So far so good. However, when examining the Phone number in:
Settings > About phone >
it shows the (wrong) temporary EE number.
How do I change this to the desired 'original' BT number?
My wife has a Galaxy A51 and has exactly the same problem after porting to EE. In her case we even went to the local EE shop and were given a new EE SIM?

Does your wife's phone work OK otherwise? If so, ignore it.
