hey, so my old sim only contract has just expired, my plan was to head to my local EE store but plans unfortunately fell through, I have looked online at the closest to what I’ve had for the last two years, but does ordering online render my current SIM card completely useless? Or am I still able to use that one until the new one arrives or does the contract cancel and swap over to my old SIM card? just looking for a lil advice! tia
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Hi @jayneysimp
Thanks for posting on the community.
Just to add to @Matt_124's advice, you may be sent a new SIM card with an upgrade if you're old SIM is not ready for all services that comes with your new plan.
If you do get a new SIM sent you're current SIM should stay active until this arrives and you register the SIM card with the same number. This is easy to register using the Activate your SIM page online.
Any questions, let us know 🙂

If you ensure that you are doing an Upgrade -then you will maintain the same SIM. If for some reason a replacement SIM was required, it would come unactivated and you could safely disregard it with no requirement to activate it. As a note an upgrade does not necessarily mean new phone or a higher price plan, it is essentially the blanket term used for changing of price plans with EE - up or down.
Make sure you are not purchasing an additional line in this process.

Although to add to the advice, I doubt your existing contract is going to "expire" as you describe. Unless you've received any explicit notification that your plan is ending and no longer available, all that's happening is that your minimum term is expiring. Your plan will otherwise continue on the exact same basis you have now.
Hence if you're happy with your current plan, there should be no reason to be making any change.
