Moving 5 BT mobile mobile family SIMS to EE

Hi,

Yesterday, I call BT and transferred My five BT family Sims to EE.

I  am slightly concerned as the only info I have received is an email from EE about the direct debit and 5 emails from BT with PAC codes, I have also received 5 new EE pay monthly SIMS, with very very little info, hence I have a few queries:

Why does the delivery note with each SIM say “PAYM” 5G multi SIM ?

How do I activate the SIMS and port the old numbers across ( I have PAC codes for each number), I have read else where that the numbers port automatically?

There is nothing on the SIMS to say which one is for which BT number so I assume I can use any of them, for any of the old BT SIMS. I don’t see how they could automatically port the old numbers across correctly as there is nothing to indicate which is which so I assume you need to use a PAC code?

I have not received an account number or anything, so do I just create the EE account myself ( which I have done to post here), how do I add my account details - all 5 sims are paid for on the same account, how do I link them, I can see you can do that on the EE APP , do I need to manually add all 5 ?

Thanks for anyone that can assist / provide some information, as I am on call out  I am a little bit concerned  with the lack of info, or perhaps an email or letter is going to turn up and I have been impatient.

The EE advisor was exceptionally polite and helpful, so no blame there, I just got the impression there would be more follow up info emailed  etc.

Thanks for anyone who can advise

Hi @NFraser123

Welcome to our community.

We don't have account access here on the forum but I'll try and answer as best as I can.

'PAYM' refers to pay monthly, this means you have a monthly bill as opposed to topping up yourself.

It depends on how the transfer was done as to whether the number ports would have been set up already. If they have, you would just need to pop the SIM into a phone and make a call or send a text which would start the port in process. This only happens on working days so if you did that today, the request would be submitted for Monday and the transfer would happen on Tuesday. I'd give that a go and see if you get a text confirming the transfer.

The EE SIMs will have temporary numbers on, if the transfers aren't set up already and they are all on the same plan, it doesn't matter which SIM you decide to use for which number. If they have already had the ports set up, you can text NUMBER to 150 once the transfer has taken place to see which SIM has which number and then swap them around as needed.

If all of your numbers are on the same account, you can set up your online account and all of them should appear as they will be linked.

Given you are juggling 5 different SIMs, PACs and temporary numbers, I'd recommend giving our customer care team a call as they can look at the specifics and make sure the transfers are set up. The easiest way would be to pop one of the EE SIMs in and call 150.

Hope this helps but let me know if you have any other questions.

Lesley

Hi @Lesley_W ,

Thank you for getting back to me, yes I will call customer care and see if they can confirm if the port has been set up or not.

Thanks

No problem @NFraser123

Let me know how you get on.

Hi @Lesley_W ,

Just got off the the phone to an exceptionally helpful EE customer support person, result being all SIMS have been setup to port automatically on a set date and I now know which new SIM and temporary number goes with each of the 5 numbers that are being ported. Apparently that should have been done already, however sorted now, it was a bit of a process going through all the numbers etc. would give the EE support person a 10/10 - really very good , very patient , polite  etc. I was impressed.
So that is good, one quick query as the port apparently happens at midnight, I assume it is best for me to ensure all phones have the new sims installed on that day, is there anything else I need to do or consider ?

One last quick point worth mentioning that it is refreshing to actually get through to someone and get great support which is unexpected these days and no I don’t work for EE😀

Thanks

Fraser.

Thanks for the update @NFraser123

Yes, having 5 SIMs to sort is definitely more of a challenge than just the one so I'm pleased you got sorted there and thanks so much for sharing your experience.

The posts happen anytime on the port date, up to midnight that night. My best advice is where possible, to keep both SIMs handy and when your old SIM loses service, swap it to the EE one and that should have had a text to advise the transfer is complete.

Lesley

Hope the porting goes well.

Being nosy, can I ask how the plans compare, and what prompted you to initiate the switch?

Can you access/manage each phone on the website or the app?

Hi @Minkey1 ,

Essentially at some point I am going to have to move to EE or alternate as apparently BT are going to be pulling out of retail also this is a good time for me personally to migrate to EE as I have several weeks when I am not on call out so regularly, so it was a good time to swap. Also price, there is not much difference and I am getting twice as much data.

With regard to App ( not tried the website yet) , not sure if there is a mybt equivalent, not had a chance to investigate,.the App looks ok, though does not seem to have quite the functionality, though does look to have some useful features. I have not migrated to the new sims as yet, but one thing that looks good is gifting data, again not tried it, can’t as yet, but if it is what I think it is that would be great as I can gift data to my daughters who always seems to run out of data, this was something I was unable to do with BT.  Oh and yes it does look like you can manage the sims individually.

Regards

Fraser

@NFraser123

Good luck. Understood re the data limits and gifting. Our BB is the same £; TV is a £1 up but NF now has ads; the phones have same data and are cheaper but speed throttled and no roaming now.

With 1 BT triple play account, 1 app, and 1 bill, I rang them abt a proposed increase on the TV side. They started the move to EE then.

In hindsight, I wish I’d ponyed up and saved some grief.

At best, I’m now looking at 1 app covering 3 accounts and with three bills.

At worst, no way of “managing” the phones, bcs they can’t be accessed online. Been that way since October.

I genuinely hope your experience is better 🙏🏻
