E sim abroad

Can anyone help. 
Phone damaged whilst abroad, only an e sim no physical sim in the phone. 
New physical sim sent to our home address, once we insert the sim into uk handset will we be able to activate our e sim via the app abroad? The physical sim will be in our phone in the uk.

It is unlikely this will work.

New SIMs usually need activating in the UK, the roaming permissions to enable access to foreign networks may also be reset. There's no harm in trying, but I suspect you will fall foul of a catch-22 situation.

This is one advantage of a physical SIM.
