Do I need a new eSIM if I send my phone for a repair and how do I get it abroad?

Hi there, I currently have an eSIM and I need to send my phone for a repair whilst being in Spain. I would like to use another phone whilst my main phone is being repaired and then use my repaired phone. With a physical SIM it's all clear, but  what do I need to do with an eSIM and how to proceed please? Thanks a lot!

Hi @Albu,

Yes, you would need a new SIM/eSIM to use with your temporary device.

Unfortunately it isn't possible to activate a new SIM via a roaming network, you would need to be connected to the EE network in the UK.

Thanks a lot for you reply. I am not sure what to do as I shall remain in Spain for next three weeks. Can anything be done in the meantime? Can I ask a friend to receive the eSIM and send the image to me by an email? Anything? I can't use my banking without my number. Thanks.

Hi @Albu,

Sorry, you wouldn't be able to activate an eSIM in that way.

Your phone would need to be on the EE network in the UK when scanning the code to complete the activation.

James

Thanks James!
