Can only transfer from a PAYG Sim to an eSim if you buy an EE Contract?

Hi, can an EE rep or admin ( not a user ) confirm that you can only transfer from a PAYG Sim to an eSim if you buy an EE Contract ? Why does EE force people to do this ? I want to buy the new iPhone 16 but I do not want to buy any monthly contract with EE or any other network. I don’t use too much data and paying £10/month is more than ok for me.

So if I am forced to buy a contract from EE in order to use the new iPhone with an eSim, what is the cheapest montly contract?

Also please have some respect for your customers and don’t reply to me with a generic text or sending me a link to read some useless information. What I asked is very simple.

Thank you

eSIM are not available on PAYG. Using a physical SIM, you can transfer the SIM from one phone to another phone in a handful of minutes.

Out of interest, why do you specifically want en eSIM rather than physical SIM?

Yes, you would need to buy an EE contract and transfer your PAYG no. to it before you can have an eSIM.
