Brand new phone number EE PAYG sim linked to previous owner debt

JamieBaker

I received a payg sim 2 weeks ago and already getting calls about debt collection, for people i have never heard of.

Why has EE sent me a PAYG sim with a phone number linked to a previous person with debt??

Unfortunately there isn't an infinite supply of mobile numbers, hence disconnected ones are recycled after an extended period of quarantine.

That period should be lot longer than a few months, and it's entirely possible your calls & text messages could be common spam.

Hello @JamieBaker ,

Welcome to the community,

I have no idea, I would suggest speaking to EE customer service and see what they say, they should be able to give you a new number and hopefully that will stop the calls, as numbers are usually put in quarantine for several months to stop such things from happening.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.
