Roaming to 150

so -if I type ROAMING to 150 (or in fact if I type ROAM or RO Jersey) as guided on the website I just get the options of GOING, ABROAD,BACK HOME  none of these options actually shows the rates it says I should see and nothing tells me anything is enabled

it doesn't say roaming is ON or available should I find this in the app?

I have Roam in EU as a free add-on in my contract so do I still need to send Roaming to 150?

then the website also says I need to buy a package - Do I assume it's available and then hope I get an invite when I arrive?

Hey @P-JC.

Thanks for stopping by the Community 😊

If you select GOING, it will ask for your destination and then advise of the costs and passes available.

Alternatively you can also head to our roaming pages and it will give a breakdown here, too.

@P-JC : RO country-name should tell you the rates.

If you have Roaming in EU & you wanted to roam outside EU you would need to text ROAMING to 150 to select global roaming.

The ability to roam (conferred by texting ROAMING) & the charges for roaming are 2 separate things.

thanks

typing RO Jersey just takes me to the 2 options - going/abroad/backhom

typing going jersey gives and erro

typing going gives me a list of features on the 150 service

The website does show a roaming costs page it says this

Because your services include EU roaming, you can enjoy your allowances as you would at home, at no extra cost.

but further down it says

The EU daily roaming charge applies from midnight to midnight UK time.

presumably the second comment is standard text and actually can be ignored?

Yes essentially you are correct.

To ensure Roaming in enabled on your EE Account you would need to text ROAMING, then GOING from the next options, and then the country you are travelling to.

This should then confirm "Great news, you're all set", signifying Roaming has been enabled on your account, alongside details of what you can use while you're there or any associated charges.

This is an example of the kind of message you will receive.

In my case, I do have Inclusive Roaming in the EU, so the second paragraph can be ignored about the pass purchase bar in my case. Although it is slightly confusing and would lead people to believe they will be charged, when in reality you are better to use the Roaming Tool in the EE App to determine whether you will or won't be charged as the text tool is not always accurate with this.

Yes, the 2nd comment is just generally explanatory. You may ignore it as you have inclusive EU roaming.

When I text RO I just get back the costs for that country; no options to reply.

wow Matt

that is an incredibly confusing reply !!

How can I be essentially correct when nothing I've said relates to what you tell me to do?

first you say that I need to type ROAMING to enable this and then type GOING - but as I've said the response of Jersey seems to do nothing and does not ever reply with any rates

Besides this the online page says there are no charges !

then you show me a page where you tell me that some of this does not apply

I think EE could simply this and make sure that the messages and process actually are consistent

The comment from @XRaySpeX  says that I don't need to pay any charges and seems to agree that the second sentence from EE does not apply too me (you'd think they had the technology not to send confusing and incorrect information as standard responses)

I think I will phone 150 and ask someone - hopefully I will get a simple answer

"presumably the second comment is standard text and actually can be ignored?"

My answer was you are essentially correct on that point and much of what you have said.

In general, I find the easiest way to do it is just using the text service to just ensure the Roaming facility is enabled on my account, and then use the Roaming Tool in the EE App to find the Roaming Costs (or lack thereof) specific to your plan.

The text service, and Roaming in general, has become wildly confusing lately with so many different tariffs providing Roaming in different ways that the automated system just does not pick up on. It definitely could do with being simplified and more consistent, but that is up to EE to sort.

As an example, I have ROW Zone 1 countries included in my plan but the Roaming Service via text tells me that I will need to buy a pass. The app however gives me the accurate information that I can "Roam like home".

As for why Jersey doesn't work, that seems unique as I have tried it with other countries as shown above and it works.

It's just tremendously inconsistent at present.
