Roaming

Some information seems conflicting so I want to check please on roaming in Montenegro.  The phone is on my contract but my son is in Montenegro for a few days and struggling to get a roaming package.  We didn't sort anything before he left.  He received a text when he got there (I think to text 150 to get a package) but his reply will not go through to activate it.

Hi @GN1968,

Welcome to the EE Community

Montenegro comes under Zone 1 of our Roaming destinations, so there is a daily pass for £5 or weekly pass for £25 available that let you use your plan allowances whilst there.

The way these would be added is in a link sent in the welcome text when the phone first connects, which would take you to purchase a pass. Did he receive a welcome text and is there a link in that text?

Alex

He got a text but I am not sure there was a link.  I think he said you just needed to reply and the reply would not go through.  I will have to check later but if there wasn't a link then what do we do please?

Apparently there is a link but it doesn't work even when he's on wifi

@GN1968 What exactly happens when he tries to open the link http://add-on.ee.co.uk/ load it on mobile data rather than Wi-Fi.

He doesn't want to be on WiFi when he clicks the link.

He can't get any connection when he's not on wifi.  Is there some sort of setting on the phone that should be activated?

@GN1968 Check if data roaming is enabled in the phones settings. If that is enabled he can try doing a manual network search and selecting another local network to see if the add-ons page can be loaded.

Alex

Thanks but no, that doesn't work either.  We're going to leave it now as it's causing too much frustration and we've now lost another day anyway! Thanks

Providing the phone has a working mobile network connection - in other words, is roaming - nothing should need changing, by design.

Roaming data will not work without an add-on covering it, but the "buy an add-on" page is whitelisted precisely to cope with this scenario.
