Roaming in the USA

I know it’s been asked before but can someone explain how to do it and what is the best package for me? I’m travelling to Florida for 2 weeks with my family and grandchildren. As a dinosaur I am struggling to “ get it”

I have eu roaming as part of my package but expect I need to get an add on . I want it to stop after the holiday as it’s a 1 off . But I want to be able to call my family back in the uk ( will it be free using WiFi?) I want to know I can text the group I’m with in the parks , and I also want to send pictures via WhatsApp. Can somebody help an old bird pick the right package and tell me how to do it please 🙏🩷

Welcome to the community,

You firstly need to make sure that roaming is enabled on your account, and then you will need roam further not roam EU, as you will not have the free roaming, you just need to make sure that you cancel when back in the UK. To call family, you still need the roam further to make calls for free.

Yes you can use wifi to send pictures via wifi, or for that matter using cellular, so long as you have roam further on your account. Just click on the app and you will see what to do, or ring customer service, they can do it for you. Texting Roam to 150 will give you the option to have roam further.

Also I'm super jealous of you heading out to Florida, I was just getting ready to go there this time last year and it was an amazing trip!!

Like @Schockwave mentioned, the first step you'll need to go for will be enabling the ability to connect whilst you're out there. 

If you send us a text with ROAM to 150, this will guide you through making sure you'll be all set up for connecting to a network in the USA. 

The best value option for connecting whilst away is going to be our Roam abroad pass, this allows you to use your normal UK allowances of calls, texts and up to 50 GB of data the same way you would when at home.

Costs do depend on the plan you're on, but if you use the 150 text service this will recommend the best option for you depending on your plan.

@Kpatts1 : Outside the EU, if you are on contract, you may use your usual UK allowances there with up to 50 GB data per billing month if you have more, when you buy for £25 / billing month or have already as a Inclusive Extra the Roam Abroad Pass or you have an EE Max Plan. Otherwise you will need to pay the charges or buy roaming add-ons as set out in https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs/countries/usa.

As you are on contract, just remember to text ROAMING to 150 before you leave UK to ensure the roaming ability is enabled on your account.
