Hi, do I have to pay to use my phone in Spain. The information provided is conflicting. I just upgraded my package with EE to be able to use my phone abroad and I wasn’t told about any charges so I’m a little confused

@Cactus86  What’s the name of your tariff?

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

No-one on this forum has access to your individual account, and you've given no information about your plan/PAYG/pay-monthly etc, so it's impossible to give a certain answer one way or the other.

If you are on pay-monthly and last upgraded since July 2021, then in-principle EU roaming is chargeable. The exception is if you're on an Essentials Plus, Full Works or All-Rounder plan, in which case the flat-rate charge is inclusive within your plan. Your plan will be named on your bill, so there is where you'll find the answer.

If you text ROAMING to 150, following the prompts will serve two purposes.. 1: Check your SIM has the free roaming permissions enabled, thus unlocking access to foreign networks, 2: Gives you account-specific pricing info.

Hey, I’m not sure. Where do I find this information please?

It’s a pay monthly rolling contract. I upgraded to it today from as a pay as you go as I told the advisor I need to be able to use my phone abroad.

You only need to reply once, there's an edit function in the forum if you need to amend your reply, and everyone can see every post.

You can normally find the name of your plan on your monthly bill or in your myEE app. If you upgraded to pay-monthly by calling CS, I would assume the name of your plan was also discussed on the call. If it wasn't, call back and find out!

You come across very passive aggressive for someone who is trying to help others on a forum. You might want to work on that. I’ve I want to reply to individual messages then that’s what I shall do.

I'm completely comfortable with my posts in this forum, but if you'd rather not read them then I wish you good luck resolving your issue.

As you have given no details of your circumstances & particularly the plan you are on, this is necessarily a lengthy reply.

You'll receive a Welcome text upon arrival at a country giving your roaming options.

You may use your usual UK allowances in the EU with up to 50 GB (contract) or 25 GB (PAYG) data per billing month if you have more. If on contract & your contract started after 07/07/2021 there'll be a £2.59 / day charge for using your UK allowances in EU unless you buy the 7-day EU Pass for £15 or the 12-day EU Pass for £21.50 or you already have them as an Inclusive Extra or you have an EE Essential Plus, All Rounder or Full Works Plan.

On PAYG there will be roaming charges to use your pack allowances in the EU, to be taken only from your PAYG credit, not your recurring card payment. You will receive a msg upon arrival offering & inviting you to take up the options for roaming in EU of either £2.50 / day, by replying ROAMEU1D to 150, or £10 / week, by replying ROAMEU7D to 150. If you opt to reply neither or you don't have an active pack, you will be paying standard rates for calls & texts & will need to buy a PAYG add-on for data.

If you are on contract, just remember to text ROAMING to 150 before leaving UK to ensure the roaming ability is enabled on your no.

If you are on PAYG, just make sure you had already used your PAYG SIM to make a call or text in the UK.

For someone who apparently spoke to a cs agent only yesterday to change your package, it does seem a little odd that you're so unsure about it just a few hours later. Seemingly getting upset at someone suggesting you call CS back to check some details, seems very strange to me.
