Disabling voicemail abroad

Hi Katie, is it possible to do this without calling in? I'm abroad and heard that receiving voicemails (not even checking them) will cost money, so I want to turn off voicemail completely, but calling in to achieve this also sounds costly (as it's an international call)

Your post has been moved to a new thread.

What you've heard is incorrect - there is no charge to receive voicemails. Charges abroad, are incurred when you make or receive a call, or send a text message. If someone calls you whilst you are abroad and you miss the call, you haven't receive a call and are thus not charged.

You can text VM OFF to 150 which should remove the autodiverts, so calls to your number that are not answered, potentially get an audible "person is not available" type message.

Thank you very much! How do I find the costs to RECEIVE a call whilst roaming/international (assuming no add-ons)? The documentation I've found so far aren't clear if the £2.34/min applies to receiving a call, as it either doesn't specify, or it specifies the fee is for making a call

EE's text when roaming/intl started (USA) does not specify make vs receive:

> If you choose not to purchase a pass, it will cost you £2.34 per min, 93p per text and you won't have access to data.

EE online only mentions a cost when MAKING a call (doesn't say there is or is not a charge to receiving):

@kmsanderson11 : Those figures you quote are for roaming in USA on contract. On PAYG it is cheaper.

Can you confirm these figures apply to receiving calls?

No! We do know that receiving texts are free but EE does not make it clear whether receiving calls are also free. In an earlier EE régime for roaming charges, receiving calls clearly & specifically cost the same as making calls but since the current régime EE has failed to make it clear.
