Data Roaming Charges in Asia

Travelling to Asia and want to know the best way to avoid huge data charges. Can't seem to get through on the numbers EE provide. Can anyone help?

Roaming costs for all countries are listed at https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-costs 

PAYG is auto-enabled for roaming once the phone is first used in the UK. Pay-monthly customers should text ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK - this enables access to foreign networks.
