Can't receive calls in Bénin Republic

I find it very frustrating that I cannot contact EE from abroad unless I want to to be charged £2.34 per minute.

Is this a joke, why is there no live chat or WhatsApp messaging to help your customers when abroad?

For a company as big as EE, this is disgraceful. I am charged a monthly fee even when abroad yet I have to spend even more money to contact you if anything goes wrong.

Why am I charged to receive calls in Bénin Republic, surely I should only be charged if making calls ir sending SMS?

You have a UK-registered mobile, and thus are always charged to receive calls whilst abroad - this is how roaming has always worked across all UK networks. The call has an international element which needs to be covered, and it is you who are choosing to roam, not the innocent party calling you.
