Can't Roam HELP

Hi

I have a full works SIM only contract which includes roaming everywhere. I am currently visiting USA and I can't make any outgoing calls but I can use my data and tx.

I have tried all the correct codes to call out and even changing my spending cap higher in case this was the issue but still nothing a call just doesn't connect.

Please someone sort this as I need to make calls while I am away.

Thanks

So this morning the VoLTE was present no issues then a while later it's gone and the only way to get it back is to restart the device. I have tried turning flight mode on and off as well unticking the VoLTE setting and back on again and it still doesn't show up.

My network here in the USA is T-Mobile. If I try to manually select another network I get no service message pop up straight away.

Now earlier when I did a flight mode on and off my device said my network was ATT and then it said VERIZON. I then did another flight mode as that's wrong and it got T-Mobile straight away like it normally does. Not sure what's going on. Frustrating that the VoLTE keeps dropping at random times. Not sure why I need it anyway to make a call as it's only to enhance the quality from what I understand so it shouldn't stop me making a call if not on etc maybe I'm wrong?

I'm here for 2 more weeks and hoping someone can resolve this as having to restart my device few times a day isn't practical.

Cheers

You're right but also misunderstanding. No problem...

VoLTE does indeed have benefits with wideband ("HD"/"HD+" calling) audio and support for simultaneous voice & data.

In the absence of VoLTE however, calls require fallback to 2G or 3G (known as CSFB). In the UK, this is why VoLTE is required to access EE's extended-range 800Mhz layer as there is often not any 2G or 3G coverage overlapping. The USA is much further ahead with 2G/3G switchoff, and thus in the absence of VoLTE, there is no coverage either.

Following on from what @bristolian mentioned, it may be worth performing a network settings reset, which should update the carrier settings and help your device stay hooked onto the strongest network signal available.

Let us know how you get on.
