Pay as you go sim

Hello, so i have received my new sim today, and the signal has been very low… no service most of the time. The most I’ve had is 1 bar, i also read in the leaflet i have received that it will take 2 days for my calls, data and texts to work… why is that?

What was the reason for the new SIM - is this a new connection? Lost & stolen replacement?

Does this coverage broadly correlate to that predicted on https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile-coverage-checker

Can you post a photo of the piece you've read in the leaflet about 2days?

Thank you for getting back to me, i decided to leave 02. I ordered the £35 subscription pack & i was very excited to get it all set up. Unfortunately it has been very stressful… i have my original number as wanted but there is also a new number too,

I have checked coverage in my area and it says 4G should be working fine but in reality it is very slow for me, it works but loads very poorly and goes off for a minute or two.

i may have read it incorrectly, it says my top up will be added within 2 days. So it’s weird how my data is kinda working already but calls & texts are not.

Good morning @Dylan1771.

Welcome to the EE Community, and thanks for taking the time to reach out to us about this.

When it comes to coverage, have you had a chance to test the SIM elsewhere to see if there are any improvements?

Also when it comes to number transfers, this will usually take place on the next working day after the SIM first connects to our network, but can occasionally take a bit longer. Your SIM will have its own temporary number until then.

If someone were to call you on the number you'd like to keep, does this come through on your EE SIM, or the O2 SIM?

Peter

Okay, thank you for letting me know.
As for the calling it shows my original number i think, or when im messaging them on i message it shows normal number. But still cannot make calls as the number has not transferred yet…

Thanks @Dylan1771 😊

iMessage is a bit different as it may display the number linked to your Apple ID, so won't give an accurate reflection of where we're at with the transfer process.

On the new SIM, can you please send us a text with AL to 150 and let me know exactly what comes back?

Peter

It says

Your current balance as of today 11:54 is £0.00. For more info on your packs, add-ons or free boosts, go to the EE app or ee.co.uk

For info on our other Text Services, reply HELP or go to ee.co.uk/textservices.

Also i have noticed something else too, it seems my number may be removed in 29 days?

Thanks for giving that a shot for me @Dylan1771.

If you go into Settings > Phone > My number, does this show the one you want to keep, or the temporary number that came with the SIM?

If it's now reading the temporary number in your phone's settings, this will be confusing iMessage, but it should correct itself once your number transfers.

Also did you order this SIM direct from our website, or purchase it elsewhere?

Peter

It shows the temporary number, i ordered directly through EE website 🙂

Nice one, if this is showing the temporary number, then this will all rectify once the number switches.

If you hold on a bit longer then the top-up should go through for your pack, but it could also be worth reaching out to our customer care team

That way they can see if there's any way we can speed up the credit being applied, and check the status of your number moving too.
