I need to get a replacement sim for one which hibernated and is now invalid. It needs to be one that is only topped up as required and not a subscription pack. It is for a Doro phone used by my parents for emergency use, so no data etc is required.

Upon searching, think I may have worked it out. I buy a new PAYG sim for say £10. Before the end of the month I just text “STOP PACK” then after I just add credit as and when required. Have I understood correctly?

As parents don’t have an online account, can I purchase on their behalf?

@Bevb62 You can. You could also get one from an EE store. Online it’ll take a few days to get to you as it’s posted 2nd class Royal Mail

Sorry, to be a pain. Dad can’t get to the store himself and I believe to get a new sim they will need ID. Would it be easier to order online in this situation?

Hi @Bevb62
Is the number completely disconnected from the network? You may need to order a brand new SIM with a new number.

A little after the event, but wanted to say thank you. We did go to the store and Dad was provided with brand new sim and new number. Luckily we were able to save his contacts for future use.
