PAYG SIm Pack Prices - Now With Extra Data

Hi,

So a PAYG sim pack from a shop that say £15 for 15gb data, unlimited mins and texts. or a £10 pack with similar.

Yet online EE have changed there sim packs and now are £15 for 25gb data and mins and texts.and £10 for 8gb etc

Basically can you just use the sim from the shop as a bog standard PAYG sim and choose any online pack to add to it?

Or is that sim stuck forever to a deal written on the pack?

Or do you need to order a "blank" so to speak sim from EE to do that?

Thanks

You buy what you buy! EE have recently upped the amount of data on their PAYG SIM packs & these are now available on the EE online shop. The PAYG SIMs you have seen in online shops are naturally older stock. Eventually the newer ones will trickle thro'.

You cannot switch on an existing SIM to a pack that wasn't there when it was bought, but I could be wrong as the online shop PAYG packs are now the standard.

Text ALL PACKS to 150 & see if it offers you the new standard or the old.

Hi,

Let's try to explain this out a bit clearer.

I bought a PAYG simcard in a physical poundland shop - Cost £1. It had 5gb data, 500 mins and unlimited texts. It had a sleeve offering 20gb free extra data for 6 months.

I went into my EE account and added my details for recuring payments of the £10 subscription pack with the same offer as the cardboard pack. All has been well and i have been recieving the extra data. I also ported my number onto EE.

Now as the 6 months free extra data is coming to an end, i wanted something better as 5gb data isnt enough.

So my question is, if i just continue will i :

(a) just recieve 5gb data each month? (as the 20gb has run out).

(b) recieve 8gb data as this seems to be the new allowance on £10 packs.

(c) could i even change to the £15 pack with 25gb data? (is this even possible on my sim, or is it locked somehow to the original cardboard pack deal)

I have text ALL PACKS to 150 and it returns saying "we have a new range of packs to choose from, blah, blah, blah... But they are all for the old subscription packs data (£10 for 5gb, £15 for £15gb etc).

However when i look in my EE account i have the option of changing my pack to the new deals of £10 for 8Gb and £15 for 25gb. So im assuming the text reply has just not been updated?

I want to keep my number. If i cant just swap packs and have to get a new simcard, then this would become a nightmare i pressume and need to temporarily move to another network for a few days, port to them and port back to EE as you cant port EE to EE.

So i guess the question really is, Can you use any PAYG sim bought anywhere and add any pack you want to it, or are they stuck to deals they started with?

Sorry for the long winded message!

Yes, I would imagine that ALL PACKS hasn't yet been updated. So in the light of what MyEE offers you:

  1. No.
  2. Yes.
  3. Yes.
  4. The former.

Customers who joined the network before 1st March 2023 will now get the new enhanced data packs & will not be subject to the 25Mbps speed cap, even when you change to one of the new packs.
