New phone & sim -- not registered on network

Recently received new phone and sim card, but says not registered on network & emergency calls only.

On phone status page it  says "Network: unknown" "mobile network state: disconnected"

Phone is Samsung Galaxy Young2 purchased a few years ago (along with sim) but newly opened. Phone number of sim card is shown on the phone. When trying to register phone number with My EE account it says:

"Sorry, you can only associate a number for an EE Consumer or Small Business plan."

Tried software update but this failed.

Hi @Kamisama2511,

Yes, the SIM card should have an expiry date on the packaging which I would expect to have already past some time ago.

You can order a Free Pay As You Go SIM Card online by tapping the link.

Hope this helps. 🙂

Thanks for the answer.

So it would be deactivated even though the sim was only opened/inserted in phone for the first time in the last four weeks? (But was purchased in 2015.)

Can it be reactivated or is a new sim card necessary?
