New PAYG roaming charges from June 6

Hello .. I'm in France, arrived last week, using my rolling monthly PAYG pack with no problem for text/call/data as I have done in the past. Should I have received info by now on how to pay the new daily/weekly fee to continue to do this? Nothing received so far and I don't want to find I'm suddenly paying standard charges! Cant find any helpful info on this in my account. Advice appreciated! Many thanks.

Hello everyone.

I think we are all aware of the new charges for the payg customers, but could we have a monthly roaming add-on please? It is a bit unfair for longstanding payg customers, as this change increases the cost to high levels for longer absences from the UK. It shouldn't have applied to existing payg customers, before a specified date, especially if they are buying more expensive packs.

I hope EE will review these charges sometime soon, and provide us with a fairer cost of roaming.

Thank you

I agree with VoyagerDev 100%.  My wife and I spend six months per year in France.  We have no wish to move away from PAYG as we do not want or need a more complicated contract, but the new regime is going to cost us an extra £520 p.a. (2x £10 x 26) between us.

Time to look at alternative providers, methinks.  After all, there is nothing special about EE services.

I live in the far north west of Wales, and I regularly receive texts saying " Welcome to Ireland. Great news, if you have a pack, Free Boost or add-on, you can now use your allowances in Ireland at no extra cost." Etc etc...

I gather this is about to change from June 6th: if so, how do I ensure that I don't use the Irish networks inadvertently and incur charges?

@Katie_B : Will these roaming charges for PAYG apply in RoI , just as those for contract don't?

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

I see that the text link is still not working, nor is the link to the "booklet".  This is despite the fact that the new charging regime has (supposedly) now gone live.

EE, what are you doing to sort out this mess?

For the record, I (reluctantly) paid a £10 7-day roaming charge yesterday.  It hasn't been deducted from my balance, so I don't know whether it's been successful or not.

Go figure... I'm in France and I still have data roaming, but I can no longer make or receive calls to uk or French numbers

Wish EE would pull their finger out and give us some clear information

It looks like the transmission from the free roaming to the paid, hasn't been started yet, as I am able to use it as it is.

Hopefully, they will send us a text message, to let us know when to use the add-on pack.

I managed to get mine sorted via online chat with EE this morning. Had still not received text confirmation before that or £10 taken from account. I was still able to use my data/text /call at the time but didn't want to suddenly be cut off from access. I told the guy there were a lot of other unhappy people with problems!! Hope you can all sort your roaming today.
