EU roaming data add ons

Hello, I'm traveling to Europe. This page says that there is an add on for 500MB data that can be bought for £3: https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/pay-as-you-go-charges-for-roaming-in-the-eu . However, I don't see this as being available for me to buy anywhere. Are there particular steps to find it? The page says this is necessary for people without a subscription pack, and I have a recurring PAYG package. I'm not sure if that counts as a subscription pack, but if so, is this add on not available in that case?

Can you connect to http://add-on.ee.co.uk/purchase over a foreign mobile network and not be charged for data use?

I also noticed I was sent a different link in the text messages from EE (https://add-on.ee.co.uk/text) and this doesn't work any way that I try it.

I've had to pay £10 for the option to use my UK allowances for the next 7 days instead as I couldn't buy a pack when I needed to.

Your UK allowances are your pack. If you don't have a pack you don't have any UK allowances.

That link works anywhere, home or away. You need to be not connected to WiFi on a phone so that you are connected to the mobile network to get onto the EE network which is off-net. Thus you are not charged for any data used getting to it; only for the data you buy from it. That link won't over HTTPS: as I warned earlier.

Hi again @Pagw, I'm glad to hear that this is working for you now!

When you're abroad, this page is whitelisted so when you try to connect without an add-on active, it should automatically redirect to this so you can pick an eligible add-on.

Roaming on your pay as you go number is activated as standard, provided you make a call within the UK before travelling, and the add-on purely gives you an allowance so you can get online.

OK, thanks for explaining that. (Yes I meant add on rather than pack above, sorry).

It would be good if this were on the EE web pages and the text they sent out had the correct link!

Hi @Sharonhelen2307

Welcome to the community.

Whereabouts are you heading off to?

Do you have a pay monthly contract or pay as you go SIM card with us?
