EE closing an account without notification

So I have an ee sim in a phone for my 90yr old father in law. Just seen online EE have closed the account and taken the credit money that was on the phone. Can I ask where is the money and how can an elderly person on a small pension have a mobile for emergencies?

You're (or the account holder) is best off to ring Customer Services on 150 from your EE phone or 0800 956 6000 from any other Network/Landline to Discuss. Noone here has details as to why this has happened as this is a user to user forum. Has the line been suspended due to inactivity possibly? EE PAYG SIMs are deactivated after 6 months of non-chargeable use.

I agree with @killyouridols08 this sounds like a payg sim and it’s not been used in 6 months so be closed.
better of getting a sim contract that will prevent this in the future.

@Stu8bond That’s 3 months of none use you then get another 6 months to call customer services to request it to be reactivated. EE don’t know if you have decided to stop using it or not and there isn’t an endless amount of phone numbers so they have to be recycled.

Is it not 6 month of no use THEN 3 months to ask for it to be reactivated?

either way @Stu8bond can call customer services to reactivate it because it’s not been longer then 3 months.
but I would personally look at getting sim only contracts for a low package in case of emergencies then this situation would never happen again…

Thanks, but trying to find a new package as I only ever do sim only. Main problem is I live abroad and this is for a 90yr in the UK who has never used the Internet.

I Know its not ideal, but just sending a chargable text/Call once every 6 months would be enough to keep the SIM operational, anything as long as it isn't part of any Calls/Text/Data Package.

You can do Sim only and get them pretty cheap if you only want it for calls, but temporarily this could be reactivated by calling customer services
