Dear EE community,
I need some help regarding my EE sim card. I have top it up for £30 a sim card and was thinking to add that credit to apple account. When I try to do that, the apple store is not allowing me. For example when I try to add a payment method I chose mobile then there is this option that say use this number. I click on it because that sim card with £30 is in the phone. When I click done top right corner it tries to add it but then it gives me a message in red colour. This is what it say.
There might be a billing issue with your mobile account. Please contact your provider or add a new payment method.
When I try to do the same with a O2 sim card it works but with EE it does not.
Some people online said that the premium rate services are disabled on your account. I mean I don't have any account with this sim card. All I want to do is use this credit on apple pay so I can buy some games inside apple store.
Why has EE disabled this?
Any help?

I have the same issue with two ee sim cards. I did top up them and was thinking to give them to some friends who came to me from abroad. When they came, their sim cards worked in UK. Now I have these two sim cards with the credit on them. I was thinking to use the credit to buy stuff in apple store but it will not allow me to add them. Just as a test, I got a O2 sim card and added £20 on it and the O2 sim card worked perfectly.
How on earth is EE stopping this service? Why are they not allowing us to use the credit in apple store?
Has anyone got any news? As of now this problem is still there. How can I use my money I have on the sim cards?

Hi @Leon-M.
If you have credit on your account the charge should come off your airtime balance.
I'd recommend giving us a call so our customer care team can look into your account further.

Good morning Katie,
I Do not have an account with these pay as you go sim card. All I did is this. Ordered the sim to my address, when they came, I went and go them to up. That's it. Nothing else was done.
With O2 sim cards, it works normally. I got one for £20 and I put it on my phone go to Apple account, Payment & shipping. Under payment method, I click mobile phone, Use this mobile number and pingo. It works after I have to verify the number with the pin that is send to my phone as sms. This is where EE does not work and it will show this message, "There might be a billing issue with your mobile account. Please contact your provider or add a new payment method."
I guess I have to give EE a call but I did read in other threads where people just did not get helped by EE agent because they did not know what the problem is. I am just confused how in 2025 we still have this issue.
Do you understand anything about premium rate services being disabled?

Hi @Leon-M.
Is the SIM active?
Can you make calls and texts OK?
Once you activate your SIM you will have a pay as you go account on our system and our customer care team who have account access can investigate this for you.

Yes, the sim card is active. I can make calls and get calls. The sim card works normally. The only problem it has is that I can't add it to apple shop. Wont let me.

I'd recommend giving us a call and the team will get this looked into for you.

I just had a call with one of the EE agent and she said that EE pay as you go sim will NOT work with Apple shop. So I can't go in apple store and use this credit to buy things there. It's madness. O2 allows it EE does not seem to.

@Katie_B : Is there a per transaction limit for Charge to Bill for PAYG? I know it's £40 for contract.
