Credit not activated

I bought £10 of credit for my grandchild’s phone (their number is on my account) and although it is showing in the account, their credit doesn’t seem to be activated and they can’t make calls and have no data. How can I activate it? It is now showing as £9.80

@Gordon99 : What does texting AL to 150 from their no. fully report verbatim (it is free)?

As their credit is now showing as £9.80 it is too little to buy a £10 pack. Top it up before buying the pack by texting PLAN10 to 150.
