I recently had to cancel my credit card after losing it resulting in my monthly PAYG subscription payment failing. I added the new card and attempted to renew my monthly pack but instead ended up just topping up with £10. I realised this only after I found I had no data connection. I’ve since managed to change the card details associated with the regular payment but now have £9.80 sitting on my account that I’m unlikely to use. Can I somehow get a refund or put this towards some international roaming when I visit Italy at the end of the month?

PAYG credit is not generally refundable nor transferable.
However the roaming fees in EU, which you'll be offered on arrival, can only be charged against your PAYG credit, not your Direct Card Payment.

Thanks for your quick reply. Does this mean I will be able to use the £9.80 on my account to cover roaming fees in Italy?

Some of it. It's £2.50 / day or £10 / week.
