Hello, I ordered an iPhone 17 256GB black on 30th November on a pay monthly upgrade.
I paid £50 upfront via card and the money has gone from my account. I also received precontract information via email, but no order number, which I thought strange as the website said my order had been placed on the confirmation page.
I rang EE a few days ago and was told that I would only receive an order number at point of dispatch, but this sounded strange as has never been my experience in all my years with EE and multiple upgrades.
I was also told that there is a shortage and that a new shipment was due on Monday (today) but still no update.
I'm worried that there isba possibility my order is 'lost' in the system hence receiving no order number. Are you able to confirm what I was told is correct or not, please?

If our team has checked your account and confirmed your order has been placed, this will be the correct information.
You'll not receive a tracking number until stock has been assigned to your order, and this will be issued by DPD. The best way to watch for any updates will be through the DPD app, and they will set your delivery date and timeslot too. Until this point, there is nothing further to track, I'm afraid. We're working on all orders on a first-come first-served basis, and once your order is ready, we'll let you know.

Thank you for your reply. Sorry but to clear, I have not received an ORDER number, let alone tracking. So I have no way of knowing if my order has even been placed.
So my question is, is this normal or is there a problem?

The team would normally be able to see the order on the system when you call if it was successful @Testwatch567, then you would get tracking details as it is dispatched.
I would recommend giving the team another call to check the order is showing on the account, as while there is a 7 day wait for the iPhone 17 256GB in Black at the moment, it shows that all orders up to 4th December have been dispatched already.
If there has been a problem with the order, they can help to get it processed correctly.
