Hi, I decided to take advantage of the Galaxy Buds Pro offer, and chise to have them delivered to the store as I work and didn't know when they'd arrive and if I'd be in.
Went to pick them up today - and they wouldn't let me have them as my driving licence expired in February (it's a 5 year medical licence and my renewal application is stuck in the DVLA backlog)
Even though it has my name, address and photo on it so still clearly proof of who I am, I haven't expired as a person since February!
I also had my phone on me which is under contract with me - called customer services on it whilst still there and passed security. Had bank cards in my name. The man in the shop even said if I took out the contract in store they could do it just by sending a text to my phone!
I couldn't even cancel the plan for the buds and re-order to my home address, it has to wait there for 7 days so they can send back as "not collected". And they have none in stock for me to take out the plan in store, even though the ones I ordered, for my plan, were right there!
So I've had a wasted journey, wasted time, and no Galaxy buds to show for it, just hoping I don't get charged for them now seeing as I have no way of even seeing them let along using them! How on earth do people who don't drive get past this?

Not sure why the renewal of your driving licence is taking so long, because I did mine online and got it within a few days. Did you do it by post?
Do you have a passport or utility bill with your address on it? Not sure whether the latter will work, though, but unfortunately, they do have to wait a certain time before sending it back, that is normal, before you can re-apply to have it sent to your home address.
This is quite normal if a licence has expired, then as far as I know, it would not be valid and cannot be accepted as proof. This happened to someone, who wanted to renew their driving licence and passport had expired, so could not do it online.
Items are sent via DPD, and you should receive notice the evening before delivery, where you can change the day of delivery and on the day another one with a one hour delivery slot, not sure but may then be able to change the time to one that suits you, hope this helps, This is not customer service here, but a public forum.

I can't renew my licence online as you can only do that for certain medical conditions and mine isn't one of them. I've called the DVLA several time and all they can say is that my application is "in the system" and they have a massive backlog due to Covid.
A bill with name and address won't work, I was hitting a brick wall with every suggestion I made. My passport expired in 2019 and I have no current plans to go abroad so.no need to renew.

@Feline69xx The reason you can not have the buds if you cancel and take out the contract via the store is because they are not store stock and they are waiting collection from a customer. So the store can not allow you to have them as they are part of an existing order.

@Feline69xx , that is not true, as I renewed mine online, and I know that others have done it, and do not have a medical condition, but you need a valid passport to do so. If you do not have a passport or it has expired, then you have to send off for the driving licence.

@Schockwave yes you can renew online for a non-medical renewal, but mine is a restricted 5 year licence for medical reasons and needs a specific medical renew and there's only a few conditions you can use the online facility for and mine isn't one of them. I have sent off for it - in February. It's still in their system despite chasing it up. There's a lot of people in the same boat as the medical renewals have been de-prioritised.

@Feline69xx , I have heard about this on the local news, that one person had contacted our local news, as he has been waiting since February, this was a few weeks ago now, and he had said that he had not been able to speak to them. Strange that not more people, who send off for their licence rather than do it online, are not complaining on one of the programs, such as the news, I am sorry you are not getting anywhere and get fobbed off due to Covid and the backlog. Hope you get it soon.
