They clearly have issues with aligning stock, across the different customer personas e.g. new sales, upgrades, device only etc.
New sales will always take precedent, as that's new income; upgrades is retention so is likely to be deprioritised (silly to think this but 🤷🏻♂️); devices only is singular transaction with little ongoing revenue. A friend of mine used to work for Carphone Warehouse back in the day, and margins on devices is pretty low.
So stock that comes in will be assigned to different business verticals, but it seems to be a 'free for all' without consideration of age of existing orders (doesn't seem like the business logic has been built into whatever system is handling procurement into inventory, inventory into distribution etc.)
And I could be entirely wrong, this is just an educated guess... But seems plausible 🤷🏻♂️
