EE Change of address scam - EE Worker!

Hi all,

this is a post to warn people about a possible scam. Today my wife ordered a new Apple Watch on the app, all was well but 30 mins later my wife got a text from 150 stating that the change of address she had requested has been processed. So we called EE, they said oh it’s a pretty standard thing when taking a new order the system reconfirms address, then said he will just double check. So he asked us to confirm our address which we did, we live far up north and he said oh no the address I have is in Essex! So he did some investigating, it turns out that when you order online or on the app, it goes to one of their workers to confirm the order and when this has happened this worker or “guide” has changed the address to one in Essex, which means that the order would be going to the address in Essex. We did ask him if he thought it was a mistake or on purpose, even he thought it was likely this person was doing it on purpose and trying to scam devices!

just a warning to be cautious, order over the phone, double check your address after the order.

anyways, disaster averted.
