Pre ordered a pixel 9 pro in store as part of an upgrade on the 26th August. I was told in store that it would be delivered on the day of release or the day after. I've continuously logged in to check the status where it gives me no expectations of a delivery date at all. Having spoken to the online chat I'm told it's a first come first serve basis. So basically it appears we've all signed up for a product that EE didn't have to sell. I've also been informed that until it is delivered I will continue to pay my old contract price which just happens to mean EE are receiving approx 30 pounds extra a month (pro rata) because they are unable to manage stock levels. I originally ordered in the white but was told that it wasn't in stock. This is why I chose the hazel, only to find this is not in stock after EE were more than happy to let me sign the contract. It's disgusting and could all be avoided by giving us some sort of expectation!

@jameslcrisp EE don’t receive the products when preordering opens. They literary get them the day before lunch day to send out. A preorder isn’t a guarantee of receiving the device on launch day or the day after as it’s going to depend on where you are in the queue for that device for that model spec and how many others who ordered before you and are in front of you in the queue who ordered exactly the same device as you. Demand is going to be higher than what EE receives to send out.

I understand your comment, but EE sales reps shouldn't say that is the case if it is not guaranteed. If it isn't the case then EE should manage expectations not just keep me in the dark. I have in essence been mis sold the product as this purchase was based on what I was told. If I had known I was going to be in this situation then I would have ordered myself the XL version instead as this arrived as promised and was ordered on the same day.

@jameslcrisp have you tried contacting the store that you pre-ordered this device from ? The store is your point of sale.

I have, and they directed me to 150/online EE assistance. Regardless my point of sale is EE, it does not matter if I am dealing with the online service or a physical store, my contract and purchase is with EE not one of their franchised stores.

If i'm not mistaken, i'm pretty sure you won't pay double, and will continue to pay the old price until you get your new handset. Your new plan will only commence once the device has been turned on?
Or at least that's how it used to be...

It is the fact that I'm continuing to be charged at the higher contract rate whilst EE sort out the mess. I have since been told that they will honour the lower rate from the 5th September though.

Ah that's ok then- what will likely happen is that when you finally commence your new tariff, you'll get a credit of all the excess you've paid- kinda like a tax rebate 😁
