I have purchased a Roam Abroad Pass (£25) for a trip to Spain so I can use my contract allowances whilst there.
However, what I am unclear of is whether you can call and text to numbers in the UK with the Roam Abroad Pass (i.e. using my contract allowances) or will additional charges still be made by EE for any calls and texts that I make or receive to/from UK numbers whilst I am in Spain. Can anyone clarify this?

Calls to other Spanish numbers are included within the Roaming pass, as per the following from https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs/countries/spain
Regardless of any billing add-on, your ability to get coverage abroad (which calls, texts & mobile data rely on) is dependent on roaming being activated - which allows your phone to connect to foreign networks.
On pay-monthly, this needs to be enabled manually - usually by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK. Ensure you do this, else you'll get no coverage abroad.

It's bit late i know. But for the benefit of others with the same question.
It's a nightmare ee will not give a straight answer, the just want to sell you roaming contracts.
Best forget ee, buy a £10 pay&go in the country you are visiting, txt your contacts who need to keep in touch your number and use texts not calls. Or switch off roaming data, use WiFi, and WhatsApp.
