Hi, trying to upgrade but perk code won’t work. Phoned up EE and the lady on the phone and her manager couldn’t work out why it won’t work as it’s not a discounted plan. Suggested I contact this forum… any advice?

Hi sorry I’m unsure how to send my own post, I’m  having an error too when trying to use perk code with upgrade, phoned up EE and they can’t see why it won’t work so they’ve directed me your way. Please can you assist?

Waiting for your images to be approved by a moderator so can't currently see, what plan is it you have chosen?

Apologies it’s iPhone 16 pro 128GB upgrade  36 months, EE essentials plus unlimited £38. The girl on the phone at EE said there’s no discount on that one so code should work but it’s saying

Code entered is not applicable with this data plan. Please beware that certain codes aren't applicable if discounts are already applied.

I think there may be an issue with your code, is it possible you could generate another one and try it? It goes in the Promo Code box under the Insurance Options usually.

The guys over the phone should have been able to check validity without redeeming it. I used an invalid one to test at first and got the same message as you, but then a valid code that I am saving for a family member successfully applied to the basket on that same tariff.

Sorry I should have mentioned EE checked code, it’s fine she said

Do you think I should still try another code, I can request another

They don't expire for a long time anyways so would probably do no harm to request another code and try it.

Worst case scenario, you should be able to do your upgrade over the phone with 150 on that specific tariff and then get Customer Services to add the discount manually within 30 days. I assume this process still exists but it is worth checking directly with EE.

It may require another phone call or two, but it seems to be eligible for discount so there's no problem there.

Apparently they can’t do them over the phone any more so that’s why they’ve said to come here
